View Full Version : Input A casting shadows in VSE?

I am building sets in Lightwave 10 and then compiling the layers in Photoshop to bring into VSE. However I cannot figure out how to make Input A (my camera) cast shadows on my background floor. Any information or resources here?

There really isn't any way to build (non-fixed) shadows into the current HD LiveSets, sorry.

Is there any other plugin that allows me to use a 3d model to do this? Or this truly can only be done in compositing?

Perhaps I can clear this up by rephrasing. Currently, LivSet in TCXD models do not support dynamic shadows in virtual sets (although dynamic reflections are supported). About the only way I can think of to fake one at present would not be very practical nor work very well for most applications.

Input A can't cast a shadow but in rare cases, a fake shadow can be rendered into the background. This kind of technique lends itself to dark dramatic sets.

Do you find any good way to fake it with reflections? We are using the tricaster for some fitness shows and they are looking quite hoakey.

You might try to use real shadows to some degree, with lighting and keyer settings that retain them.
