What is the best way in Layout to pin each end of an object to a null, and have it stretch between those nulls?

More or less I am trying to set up a series of telephone poles and I want to stretch the lines between each pole, depending on where each pole gets moved to.

Seems so simple, but I'm not clear how to set it up?

Worley labs 'dangle' plugin will do it.

Also you can do it with a simple IK setup using IK on both rotation and scale.

I set up this simple scene that allows you to move the poles anywhere and the wire will stretch between them.

I just set the wire to have IK on scale x and rotation h.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention I am all old school (out of date) and running on LW 9.3, which dont want to open your scene file.

Can you save it to an older format? And/or briefly explain the process of setting up the IK on the wire?

Thanks for your help,
Ocean

I think you'll need 9.6 to really use the IK from 9.6 or above.

Have a look at this tutorial: ftp://ftp.newtek.com/multimedia/movies/w3dw/hose.mov

It shows how to animate a line with objects attached at each end.
Hope it helps :)

Hi, I've exported a 9.2 scene for you...
