Hello there!

What would it cost me to upgrade my 9.6 Educational License to a 11 commercial license?

I guess it is impossible to upgrade to a new EDU license.

BTW: Is the new Lightwave worth the upgrade yet?
Is it stable and will I be able to use the things I know from v.9 in the new 11 release?

Appreciate your time to reply.

If you need the educational license and not the full license, you can follow this link.

Well, my question was, and still is:
What would it cost me to upgrade from Lightwave 9.6 EDU to LW 11 Commercial / regular license?
I know Autodesk has some nice upgrade paths on their products.

So it's not just a lot of guessing, I'd recommend contacting Customer Support or someone in sales.

I thought maybe someone from the NT team could answer through this forum, but maybe not...

Autodesk? No, they don't. They have some horrible bundle-only upgrade paths now.

As for Lightwave, things may have changed over the years so it's a good idea to check with CS, but if it's anything like it was the last time I heard about it, I think you will be very very happy with their answer!

I am considering the same. I have a LW 10 Educational I might like to upgrade to LW 11 commercial.

I also have a LW 9.6 Commercial

Please post what you find out.

Thanks!

Actually you can upgrade any educational version of Maya (2009-2012) up to a commercial 2013 license for $1400.
That is not all bad, considering the price for a new standard license!

Educational licenses can be upgraded at an educational discount, and it's a simple matter of contacting Sales or Customer Support for information on that.

NewTek has a very simple policy for upgrading from educational to commercial: you just pay the same upgrade price that someone who already owned a commercial license would pay, in this case to go from 9.6 to 11.0 you would pay US$695, the same as the owner of a commercial 9.6 license would pay.
