Anyone ever have to animate a ribbon tying itself into a bow?

I'm thinking morphs and spline control. But I'm not sure spline control is robust enough for such a task.

I tried animated a particle emitter and leaving a solid trail, but it takes way too many particles to make a nice solid ribbon.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

lots of bones should do the trick nicely

I'm not sure of the look you're going for but you could try serpent.

The morph through bone chain trick should do it too.

Relativity's tool is wonderful. I love it for ribbons.
Mine is in: additional->Relativity Scene Professors->snakemaker.
The docs are on the newtek site.

When I used relativity before with packagescene the files don't work anymore. Is that also same for everyone?

I don't understand half of what relativity does which is a shame since the sample files are great. Very poor docs.

Matt, how about some video tuts :D

Thanks for all the suggestions. The serpent tool is great. But in the end I used morphs, it was easier to control.

Thanks for the heads up on the Trailer update. I was hoping that it would be eventually updated to work with 64 bit. I have an upcoming project that going to need it and the 64bit horsepower.
