2 questions

can we use any other versions of lwcad to build the model?
All around the globe submissions are allowed, or just europeans?

Hi Lightmann!

Nop, no version of LWCAD can be used :)
And all are welcome to participate !

Cheers,
Charly

chco2: check the news man, Belgium has a government since yesterday! And the first gay prime minister at the same time who doesn't even speak the language of the biggest part of Belgium :(. Hehe, and in 2 years, we have to elect a new government.

shame it is supposed to be architecural - just watched the vid on youtube and OMG that would make modeling my star destroyer soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier detailing of pipes and interesting shapes - ohhhhh i want it - just not sure i can justify $299 for playing around making spaceships

Just a quick question. After reading the T&C I wanted to check if there would be any problem giving away or selling my model elsewhere if by some chance it was the winner?

"Change" should be spelled "Chance"

Let me check this for you Richard. I'll let you know.

Nop no problem. It's just that a model can be used for promotion purposes by either Wtool3d, Liberty3d or BLR. But you still own the model to do with as you please.

One entry received.
Got many positives feedback thus far. You guys need more time to enter the contest ? Should the deadline be extended ?

I`m finding it hard to get the time spend on this but there is still a chance.
This is what i have so far. I may have taken on a bit much :agree:

The motivation weighs hard in the final result also. Model 60%, motivation 40%

What does this mean exactly? Motivation?

chco2
01-04-2012, 12:49 AM
That is the why you would need LWCAD 4 in regards to the object you send in. Why would it have helped you ?
It's in the details back on the Benelux Lightwave Resource website.

That is a real nice atmosphere and your usual quality
I did get a couple of requests for some more time, so I'll discuss it to see if we can extend it.

Gee I'm glad to see this has got some attention. Last time I checked there was but one entry, and I posted the comp over at Spinquads but no one said a thing. I started an entry but then got hung up on the actual building and layout and how is it built, and I don't think I'll have it ready on time so I just hope the quota of entries is filled before the closing date and someone gets their free copy of LWCad.

modeled last night an actual building here in Berlin.
It's extreme ugly (the building).... not sure what the
reception will be by the contest.....

just thinking how long will it take to get
the model approved?

Hi!

Well a you can add 1 screenshot/image. You can compose the image as you see fit. Also, if want to add more screenshots, just upload the lightwave model as a zip file and include the screenshot within the zipfile.

I think for the screenshot/image you can go to max 1280x1280 and 5Mbytes . For the zip, it's 16Mb. (or even 64, not sure)/

hi chco2, i've problem to upload my files... this is the error message: Could not detect uploaded image size
MIME type not allowed: application/x-zip-compressed
Extension not allowed: Balilla(2).zip

i've upload all screenshot in a zip folder...i must upload only one image??

you have receive other object and motivations? or i need to re upload all?

there is alternative system to send you all? dropbox? email? or only form???

chco2
01-09-2012, 10:17 AM
Could you give it another try ? For the screenshot only imagefiles are allowed. If you have more images, include them within the zip file for the object. If it still does't work, just send it all by mail to info @ designburo . nl , but please add the questions asked within the form.

To the form itself, zip should work for the object file as others have send it also.

Thanks!

Hi guys (and gals)!

The deadline for the contest has been extended to January 31st.
This is per request by some folks to get more time to enter the contest.
I must say, I would have thought there would be even more interest in a copy of the new LWCAD 4 then we have had uptill now. :stumped:

Good luck!

Good to know, I lost most of the last two days to power outages so the extension to the deadline will take the pressure off :)

chco why the community of lw is stubborn not to take part in competitions???
in all contest very slow participation???

chco2
01-14-2012, 07:02 AM
It is weird though, cause Lightwave artists are usually brought into a project when time is of essence and quality needs to be assured.

R.Feeney
01-14-2012, 06:06 PM
Part of it may be that a lot of the people who might enter the competition are already LWCAD users

JamesCurtis
01-14-2012, 06:53 PM
I've wanted to enter, as I don't have LWCAD, but I'm knee deep in work on two client projects right now!

archijam
01-15-2012, 06:56 AM
I have a similar issue .. the project I 'could' enter doesn't count, since the model is partially (50%) an export from another app... I don't have time to model anything from scratch at the moment .. :)

Or maybe I`ll do a few more myself ;)

Seen it Richard, thanks!
Will post it later today as I'm out most of the day.

With instanced grass. Do we get bonus points for excessive poly count? :D

Thanks XswampyX! Great job!
Seen the grass and looks great, bit big perhaps :)

XswampyX
01-24-2012, 10:29 AM
Yeah, I changed the grass size at the last minute to make it look a bit more unkempt. Nothing a ride on mower won't fix.

This is what it originally looked like.

I'm in Switserland this week. But yes, you can show the work.
We (Liberty3D and BLR) are also planning something interesting.

If I don't respond quicky, its because I'm up in the mountains ;)
