I got a model from a client in STEP format, translated it to STL and imported it with an Lscript. Naturally, it's tripled and a few places in the model are a bit gnarly and causing some weird shadows.

The client hasn't noticed because we're not rendering close enough to really show, but that won't last. Is there a way to clean up the model? I should also say I was able to convert to OBJ and have the same problem.

One patch on the model is particularly bad so what I'm trying to do is delete the patch, select the points around the hole and rebuild, but can't recall the command to build a new patch. Any help?

Thanks!

You should check plugin called : M_trigonX.p I use it to "detriple" it. It is not perfect but it will speed your cleaning. I do not know how to find it since it was on flay.com
Found it !

it is 32-bit I think.

I'm using a 64bit version of merge trigons x, I don't know where it came from but I can upload it here if you want it.
