I bit the bullet and went for the 2.0 upgrade. so far, so good. there's a new feature that offers some cool tools, especially if you do a melt or highlight reel in sports.

you can assign any audio input to any video source when recording. in my case, i run 4 cameras on linear sports. 1,2,3 and 4 are HDSDI with their own embedded audio. 8 is always program. But now, I can set program audio on 5,6,7 (which are cameras 2,3 and 4 in my case duplicated from the router). Now my melt reel can contain additional cameras with announcers audio.

Rick, can you answer this question I have about the 2.0 upgrade:

If we have program audio entering the system via embedded audio in HDSDI, can THAT audio be routed to other recording channels? In essence, can the 820 route the embedded audio to different channels?
