View Full Version : renders getting darker?

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this or has a fix...

I've converted an EPS file to LWO and grabbed the RGB colors to texture it. Looks great in LW, but any time I save a still or animation, the colors get darker. Is there anything I can do about this? Add more light?

Thanks!

What are your colorspace settings?

Good question. How do I find them?

Here's a sample of what I'm seeing.

The top box is the LW render box with the color settings under it. To the right is the saved image (jpg) in Photoshop.

All this is is a single poly loaded into the default scene setup, press f9 and shazaam...

Right, checkout the Colorspace settings in the edit tab - there's also a quick preset just above the setting / change it to sRGB -which should do the work for you, when you're saving the files as linear - make sure to save them with FPGamma and then re-adjust in the app(preferably in compositor) - thought that's why you're getting the dark render.

There is a cool intro into linear space here somewhere....

Now that's bloody cool. THANK YOU!

That doesnt seem to be a gamma issue, alone. Notice the Blue in the render window is different from the blue in the color picker box.

There might be a color profile going on, but if you want to get the blue you have in the picker, thats not what is rendering.

Cheers

@probiner - thanks for pointing that out. I'm thinking it's just a matter of lighting. The logo I made is turning very close to the original colors.

According to your screen-shot, you have picked up linear color space for saving, but displaying (in preview area below) is set to sRGB. Make both sRGB, and they will be equal.
