Time for NT to jump on the marketing bandwagon early and set up a Google+ Page. Especially with the Emmy event coming.

Meh, who uses google+ anyway...

I'm happy with Newtek to have twitter accounts that get regualr updates etc. let them focus on programming as it's what those guys are good at:):thumbsup:

I was about to suggest this actually. I'm slightly disappointed with the G+ pages basically just being a seperate profile rather than properly integrated into the Google framework but it's only a matter of time before they are linked properly with youtube channels, blogger, Picasa etc. Google have already anounced the alterations to how web pages are listed on their search engine with preference given to popular G+ and blog posts so it makes little sense not to grab some pages before all the other companies called Lightwave grab them...y'know, those ones that already outrank them on Google.

Though sometimes they both post the same tweets.

Depends on the FB page. The one for Newtek has quite a few posts, but most are related to Tricaster stuff.

The LW twitter and Facebook accounts are not being used in any real productive way. It's very unfortunate. It could be a powerful way to market LW but it's not being used effectively. :(

Step 1 --> Get on teh google+
Step 2 --> ???!???
Step 3 --> PROFIT!

Social media cash cow! No fail, totally not a waste of time and energy trying to divide your efforts over multiple platforms ;)

Seriously though, unless there is someone that can dedicate themselves to keeping content fresh within these obligatory websites they may as well be treated like a contingency rather than a possible advertisement space. If people go to a facebook page of a company and find it stagnant, that's actually hurting business rather than helping.

Look at CG Society's Page, they haven't posted anything, it's just listing stuff that other people (like me) have posted and mentioned their name.

I'm sure NT can post stuff if they want, but meanwhile the rest of us are doing it for them.

Edit: Looks like CG Society did post one thing, but the rest is from everyone else.

When they redid the website recently there was a Google+ thingy on the front page but it is gone now.

I know because I specifically mentioned it in a post I made pointing out that social networking is useless if it is circulating bad "word of mouth" news from users that received units with bad power supplies.

actually the Lightwave 3D fb page seems to me pretty awesome. good marketing there, too. :thumbsup:

Well, potentially, the entire web...at least those that use google for searches. Google+ pages and posts are indexed by the search engine and will get higher search rankings as they become more popular. A post on Facebook might reach the 5k+ members that have 'liked' the page but a post on Google+ could potentially make front page of Google.

Ripples are also a great way to track the posts, it's almost impossible to do that on Facebook and clunky on Twitter but is important to see how campaigns and marketing in general are working.

It's fine to say that the current methods are 'good enough' but that attitude hasn't worked very well for NT in the past.

From what I can tell, most photographers are already using Google+ and all animators/stills artists should as well. Mainly due to the easy use of showing off your works as images or videos. Google+ should be thought of as the portfolio for anyone who wants to do business.
But, that's my perspective on it anyway...
