Speed Modelling Challenge #145 Road Furniture.
************************************************** ***
Rules:

1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modeling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger.
3. LightWave must be used for modeling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

************************************************** *****

This week's topic is: Road Furniture - Road signs, Traffic lights, telegraph poles, road working lights/equipment. Anything you might see at the side of the road as you are driving around. :goodluck:

Have fun!
Time Limit - 60 minutes.

Deadline: Wed. 9nd November 2011. 22:00 G.M.T.

Road work lamps. The old type that contain a paraffin lamp. Made in about 40mins with a hangover..... very therapeutic. :D

Nice entry akaracquel, very dense mesh you have there. Hmmm chocolate. :)

Looking forward to it, COBRASoft. What will it be?

New York traffic lights.
Why is it that even the street furniture there is iconic?

50 minutes modelling..........

Hey,

I wanted to make a simple road block and a cone like thingy (don't know the name).
Modeling about 30 mins for both.

P.S.: Are the colors of the render looking good? I have a calibrated screen, work in PhotoRGB as standard and convert to sRGB for web images. I'm not really sure I'm doing this correctly .

Greetings,
Sigurd

Impressive lights there Iain, they must weigh a ton.

The cone render looks pretty darn good, COBRASoft.

Thx XswampyX!

Nice entries yet again. I have to post another one, but it will be hard to do in 1 hour. I'll try anyhow :).

On my screen, its a bit washed out but it still looks pretty good.

I wanted to do a bus stop but they all seemed really boring until I found this one in Yosemite Park..........

Ooops! A bit late with the judging. Good variation in subject matter. I thought I would get a load of lollypop sticks. Good job everyone.

The winner is Iain for the solidly built traffic lights. The light cover clamps have just the right amount of detail to make the model look the perfect size. You just know it's 4' tall.
