Speed Modelling Challenge #144 Disposable.
************************************************** ***
Rules:

1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modeling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger.
3. LightWave must be used for modeling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

************************************************** *****

This week's topic is: You use it once, and throw it away. Disposable ..... Razor, pen, camera, raincoat, bag, cutlery, etc, etc ........

Have fun!
Time Limit - 60 minutes.

Deadline: Wed. 2nd November 2011. 22:00 G.M.T.

Amazing work Mr. R. Feeney.

Saturn V. "Use once, throw away." No time for panels, nurnies, greebles.

Old fashioned paper cups. Should have put some volume on the finger hold...but I didn't.

XswampyX said the criteria were "Use once, throw away." You okay with that?....Just kidding.

Regarding sss: Looks good to me. I'm wondering what you don't like.

Ach how annoying. I made a disposable shoe cover but could not get the displacement to go anywhere near the look I'm after 8~

XswampyX: That's a nice ball 'o' string. Might you be so kind as to share some info about it's construction/surfacing.

Glad you liked it. :)

It's loosely based on this tutorial. http://www.francescolegrenzi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=191

I used Taz pipe to make the first part, then cut, rotated and pasted the rest.

I will posted the scene here: http://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php?t=101465&page=28

Thanks so much. And thanks for the plug-in link. Had seen Taz pipe mentioned, hadn't used it.

Here we go... some great work as usual.

A quick summery.

R.Feeney - Lighter - Great model, great balance between high detail where it's needed and less detail for speed.
Rabbitpenny - Saturn V - Simple yet effective model, reminds me of an old illistration that you might have seen in an encyclopaedia.
Rabbitpenny - Crappy Coffee - The seams really sell this model, the render of the inside of cup laying down is perfect.
COBRASoft - Rubber johny - Looks like you actually rolled that one up yourself? nice modelling.
akaracquel - Nerf ammo - good work on the ribbing and colourful render. Thanks for the warning too, I bet you had a massive grin on your face when you posted it. :D
MDSPECIFIC - Light My Fire - What a fine job of the box 'n' matches. You certainly nailed the folding cardboard. Fantastic!
Iain - Disposable shoe - Good job on the modelling, I think you were up against it in the render because in real life it would have collapsed into a big heap. At least it proves that you are human!

Onto the winner .....

It has to be MDSPECIFIC for the matchbox, Great attention to detail and perfect proportions.

Well done all! Next one is here -> http://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php?t=123377

Disposable Heroes - Metallica.
