I'm trying to understand LW color.

I've been working with Final Gather radiosity in an enclosed space that's textured with limited streaks of red over a (slightly) yellowish-brown background. Say I'm saving a render as PICT-24. It's got a red color cast that's very 'hot' and overpowering. Now if I load that frame into Quicktime, it 'gets the red out' nicely, leaving me with brown tones streaked with red; just what I'm looking for. QT removes most of the red color cast.

Can anyone tell me what's happening to the color when I do this?

Thanks,
Greg

Is your Mac color calibrated?

In any case, you might want to have a look at the color space options in Layout:

Edit -> Color Space Options

I'm guessing its probably a gamma issue between what (i'm presuming) Layout's image viewer and Quicktime are showing you.

Thanks! That looks like just what the Dr ordered. Since forever I made my living with pencil & paper so this color thing has really been a challenge--to say the least.
