I'm a Lightwave newbie and I feel completely and utterly lost, with trying to learn how to use lightwave 10. I am behind on my classwork, while everybody else seems to be building these awesome models, and zipping back and forth between tools like a pro. I cant even get basic primitives to cooperate with each other without causing a non-planar nightmare.

Can anybody recommend some good beginner tutorials or resources to help me make better sense of basic modeling, and the Lightwave interface?

Rome was not build in one day. Start with simple things, then when you will get experience, you will be modeling complex things. f.e. try to reproduce your's own apartment for a start. Make chair, table, room, other items.

I can't recommend you any tutorial. Never used any one.

Try searching for "modeling" on YouTube.

It sounds as if you really need to come to grips with the basics of modeling --- points (vertices), edges, and polygons --- and coming to grips with "quads" versus "tris." Those are definitely some very baseline issues. But as far as learning Lightwave, aside what Sensei suggests, you should certainly take a look at all the video tutorials that William Vaughan has put together, here (http://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php?t=77002).

You might want to pick up a used copy of Inside Lightwave v9 or Essential Lightwave v9. Make sure you get the DVD with them. Both are great books to get started. They will still apply to LW10.x.

I have a few free videos on subdivision modeling on my site as well when you get to that stage.
