View Full Version : Transparant clouds as solid as rock!

I'm a real newbie - please bare with me!

I'm about to render som nice flights around the earth but the clouds are too massive around scandinavia. I've tried to make the clouds more transparent as I'm approaching that area (in surface editor - on the E button besides transparancy) but nothing happens when I render. I've chosen "Ray trace transparancy" in the render options.

Nothing happens at all!

What is wrong
- anybody?

Are your clouds mapped on to a separate object from the ground? If so, setting up a dissolve envelope on the object may work better.

Hey, that was exactly what I needed - thanks.

Maybe the transparancy map on the clouds-sphere were "stronger" than the transpancy editor?!

Well, thanks again

Well, all you can envelope in the surface editor is the Layer Opacity or the Scale, Position, Rotation and Falloff - changing the layer opacity just changes how much your transparency texture affects the underlying surface i.e. how transparent the transparent areas are.

Transparency, transparency, transparency...
Eh... I just thought I might learn to write it first ;-)
