I have a program external to Lightwave that creates .mot files which I can then load as object motion files - works great.

What I can't figure out, is how to create (what format) and then load an envelope for an object to use as its layer opacity, such as:

Surface Editor
Texture Editor
Layer Opacity
Graph Editor

Then have my curve show up for the opacity curve in the graph window.

1) Is there a way to load my curve data in?

2) What format does the file need to be?

Thanks for any help,

Bill Robinson

the file format is .env... i think it uses a different format than .mot files. you can try making your own env files from the mot files by parsing out the info from the mot using lscript.

You can also tie opacity envelopes to motion channels via expressions or modifiers and then bake the channel.

Thanks faulknermano and SplineGod,

I tried using expression acting on the motion channel to effect opacity, it works great!

But, every time I exit LW 7.5 and reload my scene the expressions are not attached to the objects anymore. I have to load them from my expression library and reapply them to each object.

What am I not doing to keep them applied to the objects like they were when I first rendered the scene?

Thanks,
