A quick way to add a realistic ocean is to add in a sky hdri map.

Modify a turbulence so it looks kinda like ocean.. ocean kind fo resembles like moving rocks if u really think about it depending on the weather. Calm seas however do not.

Make a copy of the ocean and make it as a floor. Add 1,7 refaction, tiny bit of reflection and 60-70 transparancy. Now go to diffuse, add a standard incidence angle until it looks good in gradient.

should have a pretty decent ocean =) If you want to animate it then keyframe the bumpmap.

----- ocean

----- flor

Or an other quick way is using the HOT ocean shader (Houdini)
You can find it here http://www.cglounge.com/plugins/hot-ocean-tool-kit-lightwave/

Hi, Attached is a zip with an ocean scene and movie. Did this from the the tutorial from SimplyLightwave. The tutorial files were over 100Mb.

David Ballesteros' port of the Houdini Ocean Toolkit is here: http://code.google.com/p/hotocean4lw/ ...as 3DGFXStudios has already posted. Serves me right for not finishing the post straight away.
