Hi all,

I am currently surfacing a car model and am using the excellent car paint node, however I also have textures with transparency that I wish to apply over the paint.

Adding the texture to the colour of the node of course changes the colour of the texture and removes the paint colour totally.

I am currently at a blank at how to apply the car paint node while applying the textures over the top (and maintaining the transparancey along with it).

Any help would be greatly appriciated,

Thank you!

Try to invert Black and White at your image and then plug it in.

Unfortunately not, the paint is still overwritten by the texture and comes out black.

I think I've found a soloution!

I can alter the background colour of the image in its settings, doing so gives me paint colour, I'm just going to experiment now to see how it works with the car paint settings!

-Cheers for your help Lewis, while your here can I ask, whats up with Foundation 3D's store? I've been trying to look for your tutorial but their site just gives me an error!

It's temporary offline, we are considering to make it DVD edition (downloading all those GBs give us high rates for monthly Bandwidth wit ISP so we can't maintain it at that price (and i don't want it to be high price) so we need to calculate costs on sending DVDs by mail instead download version).

cheers

I would do it with a Material Mixer.

back to topic…

I would do it with a Material Mixer.

I would agree, more elegant and opens the possibility to match the texture with an independent material (as it would be in real world).
