View Full Version : Bone rotation limit does not work.

Okay, I'm sure someone can help me out with this problem :)

Here is the pain in the *** situation... I made a spring with 5 bones inside. the pitch angle of these bones are limited from -7 degrees to 7 degrees. However... if I move my target NULL opject around, the bones rotate beond the limit.

What am I doing wrong?

What are all your other settings? you don't have the pitch controller set to "point at target" do you?

all of the heading's and bank's are 0 degrees in the whole scene. I locked them, so I don't have to worry about that.

- childBone 1 is parented to Bone 0. childBone 2 is parented to childbone 1 and so on

- The last bone is targeting the NULL object.

- all the bone pitches are limited from -7 to 7 degrees.

- I dit selected Point at Target. The other options messed it up even more :)

Do I have to Target all bones to the NULL object?
If so... what pitch controller do I need? (Key frames, Align to path, IK, or Point at Target)

spending 3 hours to it anoys me! :)

Point at Target overrides all other motion, it's not designed for what you're trying to do. Leave it on keyframes, then go to the IK and Modifiers tab and set the Goal object to the null, for the top bone only. All bones below it should be set to IK with no goal.

You should check out some tutorials on this - it's not really intuitave.
