Hi, apologies if this has been asked before. I need a new computer, is the iMac i7 3.4 a very responsive system when using VPR? Also debating on going with a DiY or a BOXX system, but with which card? I use photoshop, premiere and lightroom too.

And VPR is only CPU based?

Thank you in advance.

yes, VPR is CPU only.
In this regard, you might especially look at the CPU power.
The graphics card will be used for OGL viewport performance, photoshop and lightroom don't need a "professional" graphics card, Premiere Pro can make use of Nvidia Cuda tech, so a Cuda capable graphics card would gain a performace boost here. I would doubt, that a Quadro is needed here, though. A decent "Gamer" level card should suffice.
(btw Nvidia's OSX Cuda drivers for the Quadros aren't that great so far).
If you come from Windows, you should probably think about sticking with Windows.
If you're a Mac guy, depending on your 3D needs, you will probably find yourself in the need to bootcamp.
