View Full Version : LW 10.1 - Object Dissolve

I'm sitting here looking at my animation that has several dissolved objects fading in using global illumination and just realized that the polys and objects INTERNAL to the visible, outer-most surfaces or BEHIND them ARE NOT RENDERING!!!! YAY!!!

I remember way back like at version 6 or 7 for this type of dissolve to be used rather than the then current dissolve showing the object looking like it was made of glass, where all internal and polys behind all front-facing surfaces were rendered visible behind the front facing polys. I think they call this backface culling or something like that.

Now dissolved objects look solid, like how a Photoshop layer would be if partially dissolved over another solid layer. No more internal detail, just front facing polys only. Again I say YAY!

OK, stop laughing and tell me when this method of dissolve appeared?

Probably changed when you started using the perspective camera instead of classic camera. (So when you switched to LW9.x I suppose).
