I have never used AE. and am looking at taking the leap into it. Is it worth doing. I see allot of articles about it. but don't know that much about it's capabilities. I would like to do some compositing and camera motion matching. how is it at that? is there a better option to go with than AE.
Thanks All
Scott

AE is a great for compositing at least for motion graphics and basic stuff. And it has been shown to do some really impressive work on projects such as JOHN ADAMS and MONSTERS.

For camera tracking and such you may want to invest in a dedicated program such as SynthEyes.

Think Photoshop for video. If you know PS, it'll be fairly easy to get into.

Visit www.videocopilot.net, and check out the results of the tutorials - that should give you a good indication of what is possible in AE. For pure compositing Nuke/fusion and some others might be better, but that has not scared many away from doing brilliant comping stuff in AE.
