I have been using external drives for archiving my live recordings, however, Recently, my drive hangs after only a few seconds of recording. does anyone know what causes this and is there a fix for it other than recording to the "D" drive? :help::help::help:

Is it more than 75% full? Have you defrag'd it?

It's a brand-new 1 Tb external HDD. Right out of the box

Are you connecting the drive VIA USB, Firewire, or E-SATA? Generally speaking USB drives aren't fast enough for direct live recording... Although I have done it plenty of times, but never in a "Mission Critical" circumstance like recording a live show.

Firewire, and E-SATA are both fast enough for live recording.

Good idea to make sure it's formatted as NTFS, too, although that isn't likely the problem - unless (unlikely) it came formatted as a Mac drive.
