View Full Version : Murielīs husband portrait

Hi, guys!

That is my last personal work.
Some time ago I have created an old woman character called Muriel and then I thought it would be great some time to add his husband to the family... well, here it is.
I thought that this time would be interesting to get a different mood and I decided to make him as a happy person in a sunny day (there are too many sad 3D people around).
Base mesh was created in LW, exported to ZBrush and textures were painted directly into ZBrush, no photo maps in that one.
Hope you like him!

And here you can see an image with a better resolution:

I like head renders, especially ones like this that look correct. Nice job on the fabric texturing. I think this character comes together very nicely.

Really awesome! Nice blend between caricature and photo realism.

I'd suggest making the fibers across the board less thick. The sweater looks a bit pelt-y, and the hat looks like it's changed max with static.

it's nice to see that Muriel it's not alone :)

congratulations, excellent work

Really excellent work!
He resembles lots of my grandpa, who is no longer with us.

btw. what is the meaning of those splashes on his sleeve?

I love it because he is smiling, CG characters so often shows signs of clynincal depression, paranoia, hysteria or some other negative state of mind or disorder, symptom or other malevolent sorrowful tendency.

Thank you guys for your nice words! I am glad you liked him. I tried to create a very nice character with some noticeable kindness in him.

Creativetone, about the splash, well... Muriel always tell him to be carefull when he is having some macaroni for lunch. She knows well what he can do with a food with tomate sauce.

Uncle Junior!

Very nice model Mauro

That's what I thought too Iain. Uncle Junior from the Sopranos.

Good work Mauro!

Really nice detail! Well done!

Regarding the detail... is it normalmaps + bumps, or is it an insanely highpoly model using millions of polygons with a displacementmap?

Very nice work. I really like the cloth textures. My only complaint, and I'm reaching here, is the two loose threads on the collar stand out too harshly. If they were more transparent or just slightly blurred, or slightly less white, they'd feel more natural, like they belonged there.

Again, top notch work.

_WilliamVaughan- Thanks, William! That is all that I try!

_Matt- Thank you, Matt!

_Romizer- And I am glad you liked, Romizer!

_hrgiger- Ok, now I know what you and Ian is talking about. I had to do a research in google because I didnīt watch Sopranos and you guys are right. He looks like Uncle Junior.
When I was working in this model I tryed to put on him some particularities that old men have. The hat, glasses, the kind of sleeve, kind of hair... I was very focused on that and one day I went to the supermarket. I was shopping and suddenly he was there. My model in skin, fresh and bones. Alive, I swear!!! Something like that never happened before. So I believe that people with those particularities are a bit common.

_Cageman- Hi, Cageman! In this work I used normal map AND bump to get the details. I am using a displacement map too but it is not too heavy once the base mesh itself has a good shape. I used ZBrush just to add the details.
Here it is a print screen with the model done in Modeler:

_Dave Jerrard- Hi, Dave! Well, if that is your only complain in this work I am really happy! Thanks!
