here´s some interesting links perhaps...I just love listening to cricket sounds at night when going to sleep, provided they stay out there and not show up in my bed...but is lovely to hear at sommernights when the full moon is slightly above the horizon and turning yellow orange.
Could be useful for creating some scary sound effects too.

personal cricket favourite sound would probably be the
green biter (Tettigonia viridissima ) so peaceful.

theres a good collection of cricket sound..however only swedish fauna I guess, they are free too download and use.

Also some sounds of birds..my favourite would be the loon, especially hearing it late night walking past a calm sea.
At evening right before night I prefer to listen to the blackbird.

Theres a large collection of sounds, you need to click on the listen to the..links for each bird...and if you have real media catcher or similar you might be able to grab some beautiful sounds too.

Good links - I also like the sound of falling rain which I find very relaxing.... just so long as it's not accompanied by 50 mph+ gusts of wind which it so often is in the UK!

I love hearing rain dropping or falling at night too..and I don´t mind heavy storms either, as long as Im safe and tucked away under the sheets in my bed, I lovely to hear a strong wind caressing the tree tops and shaking all the leafs.

A sommer night rainstorm with thunder is great, I love the rumbling sound, and seeing the flashes lighting up the sky at night..for some reason I tend to fall in sleep with a very good mood when that happens.

So what else in sound do I like to hear, well wind chimes, dream catchers..preferably those with wooden blocks wich are a little more discreet sound than pure metal blocks.

for some reason I love to hear when choppers are flying over too..ans especially hearing them from distance coming in and pass by..strange.

I wish I could have a cottage close to the ocean, I guess it would be nice to hear the waves pounding against the cliffs or die out against the shore.

I got to create a sound system of some sort that I can control from my bed with multi surround speakers at the ceiling for thunder, rain, and choppers..and other speakers for crickets, wind, birds and ocean sounds.

Perhaps a system with soundfounts and edit that in to looping soundcarpets for an enjoyable relaxing night.

So what else are out there, what sounds in the night or morning do you guys find enjoyable?

Edit...I forgot the purring of a cat, If I could have one lying on my chest while sleeping.

Yes, there is a great deal of energy in a storm or the light given by the moon, it's felt just as much as it is seen or heard.

I love thunder storms too but I could never sleep through one as I love watching them too much!!

Gentle flowing water (ie stream) is very therapeutic.
