I have wanted to model a human head for months but theres just one problem....

Every tutorial I seem to find is basically on youtube with someone doing it really fast without some techno music in the background just basically showing off :(

Is there any tutorials that talk u through it step by step please? Prefferably video tutorial.

Thanks in advance :)

I know what you mean. Here is one tutorial I found useful. Its not lightwave but if you know enough you can follow along.

A list of tutorials.

This is worth every penny and is the best tutorial on this subject I've seen in years. She does everything to the very detail and you can watch the timelapse parts in slow motion with VLC. It's done in Blender, but is easily transferable to LW. Besides, I've learned more of LW this way, too.

Hey thanks people I have made SOME progress with this but stuck again :(

As you can see from the pictures, the large areas left in the face are those that wont patch and keep coming up with CURVES DO NOT CROSS DIRECTLY :(

How do I fix this now? Without ruining the model, I havent got a clue what to do to fix this at this stage, because there are that many points and splined I wouldnt know where to start.

Any suggestions?

I'm trying to do the same, copying what those fast films do as best I can.

I got to the point of wanting to add some edges, but when I turn on that button I get this warning:
"Failed to build the solid structure. Please unify or hide duplicate plygons"

I certainly can't see any duplicate polygons and wouldn't have a clue when I would have made them, let alone how.

How do I fix this problem?

JackyL : Usually when you get that error, you should do what it says. You can unify poly's because chances are, you have duplicate poly's sitting on top of each other. You can tell by clicking in poly mode on the area in question and check down in the sel box (lower left)and see if there is more than one poly selected. Or; selecting a point and checking to see if more than one is actually selected. Go to; I believe it is the detail tab, unify normals under the reduce poly button. That should help:D

Lightwave is nothing compared to a lot of the other programs, Boy you can get lost just opening some of them other programs. Specially since they are icon based, at least lightwave says what it is.

So you know I am working on this as well I will post what I got soon. I purchased Tarons video, the one from Gnomon "secrets of organic modeling". Its great. But I think just a bit advanced for what I needed. dont get me wrong I am able to follow. Its great plus the guy is funny as heck.
