I suspect this might have been posted before, but I havent seen it, so here you go..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YW9WFwD-rI&feature=related

It is optimized for GPU Real time simulation, so cuda graphic cards are prefered.

request for demo here..and some more sample videos..

Isnīt it great!

Look through the sample videos, awesome looking dynamics with a boat gumping in the water, It just misses som water splashes, but the main dynamics of how it reacts to the water seems very realistic.

Cant wait to test the demo, once I get an account setup for the demo.

Ohh..this stuff and some speed tree in one application together with a vue hyped spectral atmosphere with a real time atmosphere mode, then I wouldnīt get out in the real life any more I guess, so maybe Itīs good enough that no software can provide a complete toolset for such Digital Nature.

Scanline flowlines fluid samples are something else, watching sprayed water foam on top of the waves blowing...those are the most realistic oceans Ivé seen, but Itīs simulation time and not real time, and aimed at the big movie screen, whereīs ocean 3d supposedly is aimed towards gaming.
Scanline flowline water..

Still.. I wonder if not the ocean 3d realtime stuff looks better than the Hot ocean plugin.
Thou we are blessed with a free plugin, You would always want more realism donīt you?

These kinds of tools are only interresting if one can actually generate things to disk and put it into a 3D app of choice. Usually, they end up as extremely promising tech-demos, get bought up by someone and..well... you know the story. :)

Yepp..I would suspect that to be the case, nice stuff anyway..I believe the underlying technology is open source.

OSG is essentially just a generic 3D engine (as opposed to one that's specialised for games).
Open source and unfortunately also very badly documented :(

For realtime stuff, it looks extremely good, since it does a lot in...what... 60fps?

Check this, but it is a plugin for XSI.

Wow how easy was that to set up, great stuff. Can't help but think that Lightwave is falling further and further behind the rest.

Dave.

Who knows, may be someone like Steve Hurley could make it for lightwave. Look what he is doing with the Bounce plugin.

The xsi plugin is based on this papers:

I havent gotten hold of any demo of this real time 3docean software..I contacted them through mail at the same time I posted this thread..so far no respons and no demo available..

I Mailed them again a few days ago..but no answer to that either..

That feels kind of lousy:grumpy:

gonna check that xsi plugin.

Or maybe Dpont or Sensei could take a look at that. :)
