View Full Version : Axle and wheel lscript

I have written a simple axle and wheel lscript, it will be available on line soon, It was written to allow animation of a dancer on roller skates and had to resolve an issue with interaction with a plane, simple rolling physics and free wheeling. It can be rendered with motion blur and motion baked. It can also render with motionblur. Another requirement for myself was to animate a barrel rolling on a curved surface easier, and so it was improved with a simple system for curved profiles such as those on a barrel when rolling, bike, car tyres and so on.

Please leave comments or any ideas to further improve prior to release.

* correctly handles interaction with upside down planes. Possibly will be improved with planes that can be scaled with multiple plane interaction. Currently supports one infinite which can be controlled by null, positioned and rotated.

Looks very snazzy and competent. What more can one say?

Does it work interactively in realtime aswell or only when frames are ticking?
The shadows, are they discs scaled based on distance? Clever that.

It updates in realtime, so if you scroll back in time it will update as if working forwards. It is designed so that it would be motion baked, it resets on frame 0.

The disc trick is just a simple script i wrote to just add a filled disc via custom lscript which just scales based on distance the object is away on its y axis. I use it now and then when i deal with objects i animate on the ground, it allows quick idea of when it is near etc. Obviously it doesnt render in final output. Just a visual cue.

Many thanks

Incase you ever want the script... the Shadow script is online.

Demo vid of the complex shadows, tho, experimental.

Your scripts look great Stephen! Can't wait to try them.

Do you have a demo of the Image Shutter script?

Thank you, I currently don't have a demo vid etc, mainly because it is such a simple script that flickers the output image. It really isn't complex in any way.

On another note, the Axle script will be up soon, im just adding some features for less used needs, such as multiple planes, and ability to add a fluid layer so that it can be used in conjunction with some ocean scripts im working on for folio.

Subscribed on YouTube! Great stuff!

Stephen. I have recently installed and played with your Custom Shadow script and it's great for showing the shadow position in Layout.

How did you get soft shadows in your video? I have only tried it with a Raytraced Distant Light so far (in Complex mode)

Sorry, i was refering to this one:

I guess it's rendered..right?

Its actually an opengl render with motion blur, I had played around using gradient fills of colour in the shadow to create a soft look but it becomes too slow to be usefull as a visual aid for its original intention, which was to show relation to ground plane.

I should change it to protect it from errors on the experimental type and also allow for planes of any axis or position. Il do that later.
