I am stuck on making a poly out of points. I imported a DXF file which came in fine as a profile made up of points. I selected the points and did a make poly but the poly has extranneous bits flying off. I tried reselecting points in different orders but I always wind up with something not right. I can post the object if it helps.

It's because you have two points sharing the same space(or even overlapping) that make up the same polygon. These points do not play well together.

You can hit m to merge points if you want it to be all one object.

If you want the large faces to be seperarte from the sides, select the large faces, hide the sides, and then hit m. This will fix this particular object.

Press 'm' and do an automatic merge points. You've got some duplicate points.

Although it might render ok, simular errors might appear in other situations, often knifing the ngon up into slightly smaller pieces fixes Modelers openGL errors.

EDIT: Too slow and unable to delete :-/
