View Full Version : Object not beveling

I'm working on the dice in Casino Courseware and I'm up to the beveling part for the dots. Unfortunately I got this error when doing so 'Only faces with three or four vertices can be converted to SubPatches.' I'm not sure where to go from here. Can anyone provide some insight to why I got this error?

Thank you,

You have some polygons that have more than 4 points associated with them and/or you have polygons that have less than 3. Go to your statistics panel (w key) and switch to polygon mode to find which polygons are the problem ones. If you have 2 point polys you can select those and delete them. If you have polys that have more than 4 points you'll need to divide them.

You got this error because you hit tab and were trying to convert the polygons to subpatch subdivision. Does the tutorial call for this? Subpatches can only be use don polygons that are made up of 3 or 4 points. If they're not, you will need to fix them.

Thank you nickdigital and hrgiger. From your replies I was able to see that I had SubD-Type set to Subpatch instead of Catmull Clark. Once I set to Catmull Clark everything works great.

Thank you.

It works is all. Trust us, sticking to quad where possible will result in much better geometry for subdivision surfaces of any kind.
