View Full Version : Very Basic Texturing Question

Working in Model 9.5, I mapped a texture onto a quad to use as a background, modeling guide. This can also be done using a Backdrop. But a Backdrop can't be rotated. I was hoping that when I scaled, rotated, or translated the textured quad, the image would be scaled or rotated along with it. In other words, I was hoping the texture coordinates of the vertices would NOT change when I scaled the quad. This would have made life easy for me. But, that's not the way it works. For example, if I translate 2 of the vertices, changing the aspect ratio of the quad, the image is not stretched. I played around with the basic texture settings to try to make my image 'stick' to the quad, but I couldn't do it. Is there a way to do what I want? Is this what is meant by 'baking'? Thanks.

Use a UV map.
