Speed Modelling Challenge #124 - "Eee, 'tis grim oop North."
*************************************************
Rules:

1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a wireframe and a render at 800x600 or larger.
3. LightWave should be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

*************************************************

This week's topic is: "Eee, 'tis grim oop North."

Never mind the title, just a quip from a Southern Softie ;). Essentially this challenge is about all things grim, disgusting, nasty, horrifying, whatever takes your fancy (or not).

We've had a few entries of late leaning towards this trend, so as chco2 suggests, it's time to let it all flow out... I dread to think what more rendered horrors this could bring! Especially from ArtGoblin!

Time Limit - 60 minutes.
Deadline - Wednesday 15th June 2011. 2200 GMT.

It is you know. Grim, that is.

Some of these are as recent as 1969:

This is a bit more modern day:

Botfly Larva.... one of the most disgusting insects I can think of... I actually think I'd rather die than ever have one of these larvas burrowed into my skin

I do not think I'm able to work on a model for this challenge. Could we extent the deadline with another week?

Didn't get time to finish my packet of eyes, which was already looking to be very unoriginal, I got a call last night and had some urgent beer, I mean business to attend to ;)

So without further ado, the winner is... chco2 for his guillotine. I seem to remember thinking of that as the winner last night with some nice attention to detail on the rope and some bolts, though this morning the images seem to have vanished.

Lovely polyflow on the Marmite XswampyX, easily the most disgusting of the entries, and yes you do have nice eyes. Love the hairs provided by Magic Bevel, Iain. On another day it mite have won (sorry). Great entry ArtGoblin, really lovely render. Those things are disgusting, saw a program on a guy that brought a couple back to the States with him, now that was grim. stevenpalomino, you have brought this challenge full circle (ok I'll stop now). I'd never like to wake up to that, but I think who it belonged to would also play a very big part as to how distressing it might be.

Nice work folks.

Thanks!

Yeah.. I still have the old Lightwave Benelux resource website running and the last 2 days it has been attacked numerous times, so I made it unavailable untill I have a better solution. Just now I realize all my forum images link to that website as well :) :screwy:
I will have them up again later today when back in the office.

Ha, reading it, that seemed like a bit of an unceremonious awarding, so well done old chap :)

Sorry to hear about the site troubles, there are some real dicks about, but I suppose that much will be true for as long as man is still around. Hope you get it sorted.
