Has anyone had any experience using MachStudio?

Why out of the blue would it become free?

Hope it's alright to post this here?I'm not really sure why this would need to be in a private forum? Surely the information is in the public domain, making if suitable for the larger forum?

Definitely in the public domain...I found out about it via 3D World magazine "Twitter"

Is it possible to move the thread or best to start a new....?

Some features require ATI cards. I wonder if they were purchased by them? Hmm...

If it's free, how will they make money?

Personally, I see that as a sign that they are doing really badly. My guess is that they are trying to increase their userbase a lot with the free offering until they annoy a competitor enough to buy them out.

It works with nVidia, but yeah, they only mention ATI.

So, anyone tested it with Lightwave FBX scene?
Does it work?

So the displacement feature will work with nvidia?

Just found out I can't use it with the uber expensive FX 5800 as it doesn't support DX11. Nice.

I'm not sure. My friend bought the machstudio combo, with some highend ATI cards. Before opening any pc they installed the software and works fine with their Quadro cards. Now they have some ATI cards spare.

Seems to pull in a FBX from lightwave 10 perfectly. I'm getting textures et al - just haven't figured out the camera controls so I'm limited to translating in/out with mousewheel. I'll try to comment more after I read the manual (ugh)

Training is harder than coding. :hey:

That's TWO free & huge 3d modeling packages I've dl'd today. What the heck is going on? Did everybody look at Blender.org and think "I gotta get me a piece of THAT action!"?
