Hey I was curious if anyone on the forums could recommend a good health insurance provider for the working freelancer who must purchase his/her own insurance? I know it depends on your needs (i.e. family, individual, etc.) but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, I'd be curious if there are any organizations/networks/unions that can be joined that offer discounts, plans, etc.

You might want to look into organizations such as AIGA or VES. They might have health insurance options for members. There are probably other professional organizations that would offer similar benefits.

Cool, thanks for the links. I'm not eligible for VES membership at the moment, so I'll look into the AIGA link (though membership is friggin' pricey).

I also found this helpful website which is like a search-engine for insurance offers:

That seems an odd comment: if it saves you on insurance, and you need insurance, it's not pricey, it's a bargain.
