Whats the difference and what are the advantages or disadvantages?

In short:

64bit, can access more memory, requires a 64 bit operating system and enough ram to make any difference.

32bit LW (x86) runs on both 32 and 64bit Operating systems, can access less memory.

The only real dissadvantage of 64bits is that some plug ins, specially older ones, only run in 32bit LW.
