Yeah it is big news.

The real big news is that most of the biggest tent pole movies for the rest of 2011 and 2012 are shooting mainly on Red Epic. But that is not as widely recognized yet.

Red is having a bit of a take over in the industry right now. lets see how long they hold onto first place.

The industry is moving to 4K with frame rates of either 48 FPS or 60 FPS and it gets little attention. Interesting.....

Does the EPIC not have rollng shutter issues? Have they better tech now?

I wonder if he gets put on the list to wait like everyone else or if they gave him preferential treatment.

There are already Epics being lent to productions while people who are on the purchase list are having to wait. Moreso now because the components needed were made in Japan some in facilities that are no longer there. The current released EPIC cameras are all being handmade.

I also wonder if Cameron is getting the standard Epic or the new "Tattoo" version that will be coming out (probably not this year) that will shoot up to 8K.
