I'm still trying to figure out how to preshatter something like in this video. Any suggestions.

Edit: Nvm. for some reason, the first time I went to the link, it played only like the last 30 seconds of the clip and I didn't notice that I didn't see it all.

I imagine you could start with something like this, from the tutorials,
ftp://ftp.newtek.com/multimedia/movies/w3dw/VoxelPricks.mov

Then, select geometry in sections, cut them, paste them, bridge them.

Yeah, it is! I have an extra 17" monitor too. Not sure if I can get it to run in the portrait mode though.

Yes the artist using LightWave shown in the video is Mike Enriquez who is a 3D Lead at Stargate. The Stargate team is doing some really incredible work and Mike is so talented! This is yet another great example of LightWave being used to do extremely high quality work in a diverse software pipeline.

That's an interesting clip in its entirety. It does kinda suck how every VFX company seems to be a sausage party for the most part.

Oh sorry, it was just the only part of the video that showed Lightwave. It's kind of a long video and the screens could be easy to miss.

I love that script and have used it often. Unfortunately it doesn't work very well on more complex models. There are basically three awesome ways to shatter right now. Houdini, Volumebreaker(for Max), Rayfire (also for Max). I sincerely hope one day the Newtek devs or an independent Lightwave guru can code up a Lightwave answer to Rayfire. A pro plugin for intense shattering is definitely something I would pay for.

Sounds awesome. I think it would be a great interview for the Newsletter. I would love to hear some stories of them using Lightwave. Any idea what they render with?

Regarding the link - fixed that for ya':

Simply remove the "#t=7m20s" as it's a simple way to have any video start at a specific time.
Cool! Good to know! Tnx.
