Hi,
i'm looking for a Vinyl Record Shader for Lightwave.
I think I had one some years ago, but I can't find it anymore.
Maybe someone can help.
Thanks, Robert

If you want actual grooves then Andy Nicholas does a radial noise procedural:

What is it that you want it to do, visually? In terms of the way it reflects light, you probably just need anisotropy on there. Those of us who remember buying records in the 1970s and 80s (ahem...) know that a brand new LP also used to have a small amount of oil-on-water style colored patterning, but that would go away quite quickly once you started playing it.

There's a video showing anisotropic shading using nodes on this page:

...it's on the surface for a CD, but it's still applicable to some extent.

Try using the ripples texture... just set your wave length to different amounts and you can get the effect of different tracks.

WOW! This looks really fantastic! Exactly what I'm looking for.
Whould it be too much to ask for the settings?
Thanx

That looks brilliant Swampy, haven't tried it yet. Just out of curiosity is that texture actually a spiral scratch and is it possible to create one?
