View Full Version : The best way to create a minecraft-like set

I am trying to create a scene that mimics the blocky look of minecraft and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to achieve this. I'm guessing that HD Instance will be involved somewhere.

Draw a terrain.
Make a regular grid of 2pt polys that cuts through it vertically.
Intersect this grid with the terrain.
Quantise based on the original grid size to get the verticals to be even.
That gives you a series of points that you can PointClone to or use HDInstance if you so wanted...

It's just one way. There are no doubt plenty of others.
