I'd like to see a realistic ocean in it's most common state. Waves that are pretty real looking and attention to render speeds. Maybe even consider a pre-determined density of geometry vs. adaptive subd.?

I don't see an "All of the above" option.

might have a solution, but haven't tested it yet... requires some hours...

A tutoral that went WAY into depth of the node editor. I would pay for that.

I'm talking, the most efficient ways to use images as masks on layers, how to link layers using foreground and background (always confused me), how the math actually works when you are connecting things. How to use some of the most useful nodes. How to do the same thing you would do in texture editor, make a few layers and make some additive and some screen, etc. (never could figure that out).

Definitely would like that.. heck it could already exist, I just never searched for it.

sorry, not a nodes guy... :/
but have some good ideas, so requests are welcome...

(might be some other wavers that could pick that up and make a tutorial though...)
(i know some wavers who could pick that up, but won't i mention names)

:agree: I would like this also. I have used NatureFX for most of my Ocean FX but now I tend to use LW 64bit and NatureFX is 32 bit only.

Some tutorials about lighting and surfacing to get photoreal results would be nice.

That is for wood, glass, metal, durt, tree, ... And also interiors with one or more windows... Ideas enough :).

As I see it, the biggest challenge w/waves is "breaking waves" and/or 'whitecaps". Wouldn't know where to start.

I went with the bridge in the poll though.

I voted for abomb but bridge collapse would have been my 2nd choice. I didn't think to check more than one! doh!

I want to see the bubbles. How would you do it. How do you distribute bubbles around the object. How do you texture the bubbles...

I got a lot of questions. ;-)

did you vote on it...?, and if so,... why,...?

Personally, I haven't seen good cg with bubbles or soda effects so I want to see photoreal scene. We had to use stock video in one of our last CM.

Liquids are achievable with blender but bubbling effects :D
The foam rising and overflowing might be doable in xsi.

I perceive two categories of Erikals tutorial offerings: photoreal destruction or photoreal construction. From real world news sources, the world is collapsing around us. . . is that your experience also? I would prefer to devote some effort in the work that I do, that is: to focus my one person effort in the direction of 'enhancing' humanities's footprint.

My vote went to the bubbles tutorial. And . . . I would have liked to have seen a bridge construction tutorial . . . then again, I don't really want to tell Erikals what to do.

some people including me, likes to see things blown up etc in movies, but only to see the visual effect, not to fantasise about doing a bad act... :]

all suggestions are welcome, iīve been concidering some construction tutorials too, but i need more experience with the UV mapping part of it...
(i doubt i can teach you anything though...? :]

:agree: yes this is definitely the kind of thing I'd like to know plus waves breaking and travelling up the beach/sand with foam etc.

Well, I haven't worked on bridge construction as of yet, but . . . . museums & such, yes.

Btw #1: the label in the image is the brand & model of a tower crane. The LW model of it . . . I've been poly modeling it in my spare time (not finished).
Btw #2: The museum, I have an accurate construction model . . . useful in real world curve layout & all sorts of constructability issues.

...my biggest surprise till' now is that no-one voted for A-bomb...

nahh..Im working on that a little already:D...maybe not an A-bomb but smaller perhaps.
Besides thereīs quite some information on the basic techniques for it over at different forums.

There are a few topics I would like to see, but because of lightwave not having those tool available Itīs a little pointless, Im talking about
real liquid stuff without having to resort to real flow, blender or hypervoxels for it...wich makes it pointless to name it at all actually.

I would really like to see some turbulence fluids training, but I donīt think there is som many people experienced with fluids and skilled enough and whom have worked a bit with turbulence up til now, turbulence fluids isnīt that old in the game yet, but who knows if thereīs any other fluid master out there who could use his practices on turbulence tutorials.

Some advanced Ai simulated crowd behavior would be nice to see, but might be very limited for lightwave toolsets today.

I think it not important to discuss about what kind of stuff, but about HOW to get VFX Realism and organized as the whole Project from Start to Finished - yes it is complex - from the LW Passes output, tracking, undistorted Footage and final composite (Fusion / Nuke AE, etc.). Realism is not make believable only in LW!

The content is unimportant - the Details of realistic final result is important:

CG Plane crash example:
http://www.fxguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/0005-05_vid-lin_07_1920x1080.00042.jpg

So I wish High Quality Final Tutorials, thats insufficient for LW at the moment!

Here are many examples for inspiration what you can offer :)

Thanks!

Your are able to create this in LW and in Composite?
http://www.fxguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/0005-04_vid-lin_12_1920x1080.00048.jpg

You don't need any Tutorials - bye :D

The question was for realistic VFX Lessons in LW. So make realistic Lessons and not this stuff:
