SAN RAFAEL, Calif., April 1, 2011 — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Newtek, the privately held maker of Lightwave 3D and Video Toaster. Autodesk announced its intent to acquire American-based Newtek on April 1, 2011. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Lightwave 3D and VT5 has been used to develop over nine thousand movie productions including movies, tv shows, and video games. Newtek provides software and hardware solutions for video production and content creation. As well, Newtek software is widely used in the classroom.

“The acquisition of Newtek extends Autodesk’s leadership in video production and content creation technology. We welcome Newtek’s customers, partners, and employees to Autodesk,” said Carl Bass, Autodesk Media & Entertainment CEO. “The future of video production is about more believable characters and environments. Due to the increasing complexity of video production, developers are adopting commercial middleware solutions such as Lightwave and Autodesk HumanIK to improve content creation and to stay on time and on budget.”

When do we get the Tshirt and membership card?

You'll all receive a new 'card'...actually it's more like a Annual Subscription Bill

as for a tee shirt...the increase in cost will probably mean you'll need to sell the shirt off your back...:hey:

When do we get the Tshirt and membership card?

The T-shirt will ship with the disks.
But remember, according to your EULA, you don't own the T-shirt and ownership is nontransferable. If you wish to continue wearing the T-shirt after 12 months an additional fee will assessed.

LOL! I was wondering if anyone would try pulling this one! I was tempted to start a thread titled "Lightwave 9.6.1 out of Beta", but I knew no-one would ever believe that. ;)
