View Full Version : Very Odd!!!

Just had this experience and thought I'd do a post to see if anyone else thinks this is odd. My license key for my 9.6.1 64 bit version had expired and I had to call NT to get another, which I did, the first one they gave didn't work, no biggie. Called back and they set me up with another one that did work, thought it was going to be a permanent one but it gave me a time limit, asked the rep and he said that it was time limited because 9.6.1 is still in beta. Now what seems odd to me is that LW10 has been released and 9.6.1 is still in beta making you get a new license key every 90 days or so.

Maybe it's just me...but seems odd. :)

you have to pay to get 10 so it's not really odd....

Well, I get the paid new version of 10, just seems odd that you'd release a new version and I'm assuming 10 isn't beta anymore since it's gone on sale. And still have 9.6 still in beta.

Really doesn't matter, I use them both, both was curious if anyone else thought that.

Were you told that 9.6.1 was released? Not that it shouldn't be finished by now.

:p Alas, I'd wager that isn't far from the truth of the matter.

Not if you didn't upgrade. 9.6.1 is a free update to LW9 users.

Is 9.6.1 supposed to be the LAST update to the 9 series? I can kinda see them taking the time to kill and fix as much stuff as possible, if that is the case. If that is what they are doing.
Generally speaking I dont mind the time they take, I mind the lack of updates and information.

In software in general, you tend to find that older versions have service releases where bug fixes go in. I'm guessing this is a beta of a service release before they officially close it off. That can happen regardless if there is a newer one. If that is the case, it does seem unusual to release a beta of a service release as betas are usually for feature releases and not bug fixes.
