Hey guys i was wondering how to render out an image/animation with shadows but a transparent BG and floor, so you just have the character and its shadow. (for compositing an animation into a video)

Make a variant of your objects that you want to catch shadows with a Surface Opacity set to Shadow Density. You'll find it under the Advanced tab in the Surface Editor.

Hello again
I tried to figure this one out myself but no luck.
is there a way to do the same thing as with the shadow but with the reflection?
so some way to render out a PNG with the reflection but no floor. if you get what i mean :)

I believe render buffers will let you do what you want. You can isolate pretty much everything that way (diffuse, specular, reflection, depth, etc).

Just set the transparency to 100% and see if that's what you want.
