Hey all, I want to let you guys know about a movie premiere that is coming up soon in LA. My friend Kevin Nations, who works here at NewTek, and his wife Robin, shot an independent film here in San Antonio last summer. The movie is called "Cooper" and it recently got selected to debut at the International Family Film Festival in Hollywood. This is not a heavy effects-driven movie, but Kevin did ask me to do a little bit of LightWave work for the movie. There's a funeral scene that needed caskets. Well, caskets are expensive and - shocker! - funeral homes are reluctant to rent them for small independent film projects. So they shot the scene without them, and I added them in post. (LW10 with VPR was seriously handy for matching the lighting, btw.)

I haven't seen the finished film yet, but what I have seen has been beautiful, as you can see for yourself in the trailer. It was all shot with Canon 7D and 5D Mark II. You can check out the trailer at http://www.cooperthemovie.com If nothing else, you should roll out to see if the DSLR craze lives up to the hype on the big screen (my bet is that it does).

Anyway, the movie is screening on Saturday, March 19th at 8:00pm at Raleigh Studios on Melrose. You can buy the tickets at http://www.cooperthemovie.com or at the door

If you get a chance, stop by and see the movie and visit with Robin and Kevin (don't forget to tell Kevin you're a LW user!)
