Modeled and rendered in LW10. Made UV with PLG tools. Some minor post work in Corel. Comments welcome.

That looks really nice Snosrap.
The model , the textures: wood, leaking effect of the rust, etc; all look quite good.

Only 2 things that i think that make the scene look a bit flat:
- The lightning. I don't know what or how... but there seems to be lack of shading and shadows or something else.
- The rust texture alone. It could have a Bump or a Normal map because rust is a rough surface where different areas have been corrupted down to different layers of the metal.

Very nice mate and really like the rust. The background wood probably needs some work for such a close up shot, it needs geometry and/or normal mapping i think you would actually be able to see the plant joints.

Thanks guys. Yeah the wood was a last minute thing. I'm lazy like that. This was just a screw around project for myself. I modeled the lamp at work one day last week when it was slow and made the UV and painted the map in my spare time at home. I'm going to play with it some more. Probably won't mess around with the wood, but I never was fully satisfied with how the lamp surface turned out. Is there any sheen to rust? How do I make this thing pop?

Nice surfacing job. The light itself looks too clean versus the shade, I'd add some scum to it and some spider webs or something too maybe?

Messed around with it some more today. I went for a moonlit look. (Hides my inferior surfacing skills.:D) I made some changes to the image map and created new spec and bump maps.

how bout if you dimmed the bulb a little and showed some old timey filament glowing?

I think it looks ok my suggestions would be if you dont mind that the cable could have a slight amount of highlight but not much and a bit cracked because old plastic cracks and that flat round rustyplate maybee could have a small amount of bevel on the edges, now it is so sharp, would be nice some highlight on that edge and also maybe a bit dint on the shade, these things get dinted especially if old, but you are getting there the new lighting mood is much better, though I would almost show the inside of the bulb as on the photo above

I prefer the stronger bump in the second image. Very well done!:thumbsup:
