Hi

I am trying to model an old book, opened up and lying on a desk. Initially I thought that I'd model two boxes for the lower half of the book and use a couple of planes that were deformed to take the shape of the upper section of the book, but this dint produce good results. I am looking for ways to produce a good curved page (the one that's open and faces the reader) . I also need something more realistic that can help give the look of actual stacked pages and not just a flat surface on the edges of the book.

Can somebody share some tips on how to go about this please?

Attaching sample pic for reference.

Thank you

You could try cloth dynamics on the top page, or even all the pages if you are feeling adventurous. :)

Thanks, I'll check it out :)

Did you model all pages btw?

The 1st page was, but the rest were created using a radial array of 80 copies. I then deleted the bottom half to give the open book.

Then just apply cloth and gravity....

Here is what I have so far. As you can see the stack of pages of the bottom look so unreal. I applied a painted texture along x axis just to simulate pages, but it doesn't look great. Is there another way to go about this?

Thanks a mill.
