View Full Version : No insert key on a Mac, yet it is assigned as a hotkey! Help!

I'm trying to insert a layer (shift others down) so I opened the "edit keyboard shortcuts" window and searched for and found the command I am looking for. I realize that I could just reassign it but I have to figure this out. How the heck do I do that command???
EDIT: As the title indicates, it is assigned to the "Insert" key but there isn't one on any current Apple Aluminum Keyboard.

If you don't have an insert key on your keyboard you could re-assign it to a key command that isn't being used by LW. But make sure the 'help' key on the keyboard is not acting as the 'insert' key before re-assigning it.

THe Apple keyboard doesn't have a help key. I know I could just reassign the key but what I want to figure out is what key it currently is. I also can't figure it out for MS Word, etc...

Honestly, there's no way I'd ever use a keyboard without a full set of keys and numeric keypad for 3d work. This is another option if you still want the apple keyboard: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB110LL/A?fnode=MTY1NDA1Mg&mco=MTA4Mzc4ODA

I just couldn't ever use this version:

maybe check the apple site to see if there is some type of software addon that will let you access those missing keys? I bet there are apps that would let you do this somehow too.

Well, the full size Apple aluminum keyboard is the one I have. It has no help key either. hmm, maybe there is no hope.

ahhh.. yeah... on my mac keyboard the 'fn' key on the one you have is my 'help' key. I would just ask in the apple forums. I'm sure you'll get an answer pretty quickly.
