View Full Version : VT[Edit] Freeze. Alot.

Hi Guys,

I have an Edit project (using vt[3]) of about 17 minutes long. there are only avi's and about 100 edits in total, and 50 of them fades.

Suddenly edit siezes the entire xp machine. I work for about a minute (if I'm lucky) and before long the mouse turns into a mouse plus hourglass, there is NO disk activity, and even control-alt-delete works once (since when you click task manager the only thing left on the desktop except blue is a freeze of the vt[vision]).

i have re-installed and i cant even work long enough to cut the project into two chunks. (thinking that was the problem)

Gonna sound weird, but I was having freeze/crash problems similar to yours. Turned out it was an inadequate power supply.
Beefed up the boost and no more freezes.

What are you using for a video card and are the drivers updated?

On the Video Card side, I was having similar issues with my NVIDIA card until I turned off the Desktop Manager.

Not sure that's your problem, but is solved several people's problems.

Another option is to turn up, or down your preference settings. Too high isn't always better.

Alot is not a word...

Thanks Ted!

I'm beginning to suspect my nvidia card.

Thanks for the advice!
