View Full Version : 'Inverse' Ambient Occlusion

Hi All

First post on here I think, so hopefully I've put it in the right place...

Does anyone know how to do what I think is a reverse of ambient occlusion. I.e. i want the outer edges of objects to be visible, not the crevices. A friend uses Max and he had the idea of inverting normals, using souble sided polys and it just worked in Vray.. I'm rather put out that I can't figure similar in LW! When I invert my normals and set double sided, LW renders correctly (unfortunately!)

The end effect is a really simple to add detailing which makes concrete blocks for example look worn and used - with no unwrapping, extra texturing etc.

I'm not great with the node editor (im in LW9 and HC btw) but needing to learn.

Also, does anyone know of a good resource for learning nodes? I'm really struggling after not doing much 3D over the past year.

any help, totally appreciated.
