I think I already know the answer to this, but I'll post it anyway...
Is it true that LW10 will ONLY run with 10.6 snow leopard?

Cringing at the thought of having to update my system just to get LW10 to run. Oh well.

Update: Never mind. I just found the system requirements page and sure enough 10.6 or higher. Sigh.

Snow Leopard is a minimum, yes. Unless you only want to launch the hub and stare at its dock icon :D

Thought this requirement was unnecessary.

The good part is we can now run LW in 64-bit.

Free download of "32- and 64-bit Kernel Startup Mode Selector:" http://tinyurl.com/27nupcs

Until I got this and booted in 64-bit, I didn't know I could run in 64-bit literally ALL the time. Under OS 10.6.5, every app I have runs fine under 64-bit, even the old 32-bit apps like Microsoft Office X and LW 9.6. And now in LW 10, I can render HUGE images, limited only by physical ram. :)

Has anyone got their keys yet for LW 10?

Also, whilst I'm asking Mac guys (I've been waiting for the 64-bit Mac version before shifting across to the Mac permanently), is there a 64-bit Mac version out yet? I can see in my downloads, under "Patch Release 9.6, Open Beta", an option for a Mac Universal Binary version to download, is this beta the 9.6.1 UB version that runs in 64-bit and is that the most recent?

Thanks for any help!

PS I'm also in the HC system and have been notified by email that LW10 has been released, but have no license key details in 'My Products' page that I can use with a Mac version of LW10. Can anyone shed light on this as well?

That was always possible, with 961 or 10 you can render bigger images not depending on your physical RAM, because finally virtual memory works as expected.

961 is a pretty old version, but i am not sure where i downloaded it, its confusing as usual.

For 10 you use the hardcore serials.

Thanks ingo :) Worked a treat, plus I've phoned NT Europe who were great (as usual) and have set me up with the 9.6.1 licence key so I can start migrating plugins. Now I just have to see which plugins break with 10!

too bad you had to pay to get to run your LW at 64 bit . . you should have been using it for free in V9. . .

That's still scheduled in 9.6.1.
