Hello

I need for project to show a head protruding through a tiled wall. I've set up a simple collision, but I need the tiles to roughly stick to the head shape, not fly away on impact. I've tried several settings for the collision object and the HardFX, can't make it work... Any advice ?

hmmm... I saw an unbeliveably cool displacement node setup using dpont's "part move" node the other day.... now if I could just remember where it was. It would basicly work perfectly in this case I think. I'll try to remember where it was and post a link here

What you should do is make a poly plane cloth object and parent the wall tiles to it. Then apply FX_Hardlink to them. This will make the cloth object control them as it is deformed. You'll have to calculate the cloth to make it work. Are you Just colliding an object with the wall?

Thanks for the answers guys, I'm going to look at those tutorials.
@Dodgy - I tried that method but it deforms the tiles, I need them to keep their shape

FX_HardLink (sp?) should do that. Just parent the wall to the cloth object, calculate, then apply that plugin to the wall.

yes, be sure to use Fx_Hardlink, not Fx_Metalink which might be why you get deformation on the tiles

I would create a subdivided plane and make it deform to the head object using BGconform, heatpress, or another similar plugin. Make this an endmorph.
In layout, mdscan the morph and then hardlink the tiles to that.

Larry ! How are you doing ?

Thanks for all the suggestions, the Cloth+FX_Hardlink worked perfectly (I was using FX_Metalink, per Proton's tutorial with the microphone)

Recovering slowly but doing well, thanks :)
